Outlet end of hose connects to male or female 3/8 NPT or 1/2 NPT fittings, depending on adapter used. Female (inlet) end of cutoff valve is 1/2 NPT and does not adapt to other sizes, so you only want this if you have a 1/2 NPT gas line.

I didn't use the Teflon tape that came with the kit so I can't speak to its worth. Looks like there is enough tape for the job though. The rest of the kit is just what I needed to hook up my gas heater which has a 3/8 NPT inlet.

In my photo you'll see a 4-way block with a capped trap, a coupler to connect to the heater, and a plugged port which is for optional pressure testing; all parts purchased from Amazon. This type of configuration (tee joint with a trap pipe facing down) is recommended for gas heaters. The trap collects moisture and particles, and it needs to be drained at the end of the season (with the cutoff valve closed of course). I bought a 2.5 inch pipe for the trap. In retrospect I should have gotten a 4 inch pipe.
